Sustainable Events: Inspiring Change With Beyond the Box.

To support the ‘Beyond the Box’ campaign that celebrates sustainable packaging, we ran hands-on creative cardboard sustainable events, classes and clubs alongside an exciting competition that reached  92,500 families across the UK.

Client background:  Beyond the Box wanted us to showcase the versatility of this eco-friendly material. This initiative is spearheaded by the CPI (Confederation of Paper Industries), an organization dedicated to promoting the sustainable qualities of cardboard packaging.

Challenges:

  • Engagement: Encouraging active participation in sustainable events across the UK.
  • Awareness: Educating about the sustainability of cardboard.
  • Effective Messaging: Communicating sustainability to families and children.

Our Solution

We worked closely with the brilliant Cogent Marketing Agency to design, develop and market hands-on cardboard workshops for children and families across the UK.

These sustainable events promoted and supported the ‘Beyond the Box’ campaign, emphasizing the importance of sustainable packaging.

Children explore and experience how versatile cardboard is, we worked with the brilliant Cogent Marking agency and the CPI to create a hands on campaign that brought the versatility of cardboard into the hands of 19,455 children and 175,000 reach online.

This exciting partnership invited families to take part in a competition, to create a story with characters made from cardboard, and then share their creations on social media.

It may come as no surprise that the designs showcased children’s wonderful creative energy and ideas.

Check out our Facebook album to see some wonderful examples of children’s creativity.

The winning design was transformed into a stop-motion animation clip and the winner received lots of Creation Station goodies too.

Conclusion:

Sarah Cressall, CEO of Creation Station, says: “In a time when we’re all increasingly thinking about how we can play our part in being more environmentally conscious, Beyond the Box is inviting people to think differently about cardboard.”

“The reason why the cardboard themed workshop were such a hit with children is that it has the same creative appeal as Lego – it can be repurposed and rebuilt into something else entirely. The only restriction is often our own imagination.”

Andy Barnetson, Director of Packaging Affairs at CPI, says: “Cardboard is recyclable, renewable and reusable and therefore should be the UK’s number one packaging choice, but not enough people are aware of its sustainable credentials.”

“Partnering with an organisation that’s delivered award-winning, fun and educational arts and crafts classes such as Creation Station has been a great way to spread awareness and get British families to think more about the types of packaging materials that are used every day.”

Our sustainable cardboard workshops and events not only promoted creativity but also instilled the values of sustainability in the hearts of children and families. By bringing the sustainable events and classes into all The Creation Station experiences we were able to  provide significant engagement, awareness, and messaging. Thereby embracing the challenge of creating a greener and more imaginative future.
